Abstract

This article discusses the operating conditions of engine oils in internal combustion engines. The quality of engine oils, especially lubricating performance, significantly affects engine reliability, fuel consumption, and other parameters. In the area of the piston rings, the lubricating oil is in the form of a thin film between the piston rings and the cylinder liner wall, in the gaps between the rings and the annular grooves, as well as on the lintels between the rings. The formation of an oil film between the piston rings and the cylinder wall is mainly carried out by the action of the piston rings. The working oil continuously changes under the influence of high temperature, oxidizing environment, external pollutants, metal surface wear products and other factors.
