This thesis examines the foreign policy instruments of the Republic of Korea (South Korea), analysing their evolution, strategic objectives and effectiveness in achieving national interests. In recent decades, South Korea has evolved from an authoritarian state to a global economic power and a key player in East Asia and global geopolitics. The study examines South Korea's diplomatic, military, economic and cultural tools in relation to regional and global issues. It examines key foreign policy instruments such as military alliances, economic diplomacy, soft power (including the Korean Wave) and multilateral cooperation. It also looks at changing geopolitical dynamics, in particular South Korea's evolving relations with neighbouring countries such as North Korea, China, Japan and the United States, as well as South Korea's responses to global issues such as climate change and trade policy.
