Abstract

This thesis explores the theoretical foundations of language evolution, focusing on the mechanisms and patterns of linguistic change over time. It examines the internal and external causes of change, the distinction between diachronic and synchronic approaches, and the transformation of language across language levels. Drawing on examples from English and Uzbek, the study highlights how linguistic units evolve within systems governed by principles of economy and redundancy. The role of individual speakers and community transmission is also analyzed to understand how language is shaped and reshaped across generations.
