Abstract

pronunciation is a fundamental aspect of spoken language that influences clarity, understanding, and social interaction. This article discusses the multifaceted role of pronunciation in English, integrating phonetic principles with sociolinguistic perspectives. It categorizes pronunciation varieties into regional, social, and non-native groups, and examines how global factors have shaped diverse pronunciation norms. Special attention is given to Uzbekistan, where educational policy and media exposure influence the choice between British and American English pronunciation standards. The study underscores the importance of acknowledging pronunciation diversity in language learning and pedagogy.
