Abstract

Multilingualism is a growing phenomenon in an increasingly interconnected world, influencing cognitive development, academic performance, and cultural awareness. Research suggests that individuals who speak multiple languages exhibit enhanced cognitive flexibility, problem-solving abilities, and executive function. However, multilingual education also presents challenges, including language interference and the need for appropriate teaching methodologies. This paper explores the cognitive benefits of multilingualism, its impact on educational systems, and the strategies educators can use to foster multilingual competence [1]. By understanding the effects of multilingualism, policymakers and educators can design curricula that maximize cognitive advantages while minimizing linguistic difficulties.
