Abstract

This article presents a lesson plan for teaching the pragmatics of requests and their functions in language use. It emphasizes the importance of understanding requests not only as simple linguistic structures but as socially and culturally nuanced acts. The lesson plan covers key aspects of requests, including their various functions such as making polite requests, asking for favors, offering assistance, and seeking information. The goal is to equip students with the pragmatic skills necessary to navigate interpersonal communication effectively.
