Abstract

The purpose of the work is to conduct a contrastive analysis of phraseological units of the English and Russian languages in order to identify their national and cultural specifics, as well as the characteristics of ideas about other ethnic groups, reflected in these phraseological units. Ethnostereotypes that have developed in relation to various peoples in English and Russian linguistic cultures are identified, and an attempt is made to identify extralinguistic factors that influenced the formation of these stereotypes.
