ANALYSIS OF COGNITIVE METAPHORS RELATED TO THE CONCEPT OF “FREEDOM”

This paper investigates the phenomenon of conceptual metaphors within the broader scope of cognitive linguistics. Conceptual metaphors refer to the process where abstract concepts are understood using concrete images drawn from unrelated domains. Key theorists, including George Lakoff and Mark Johnson, argue that metaphors are central to human cognition rather than merely being stylistic tools. They propose that the mapping between source and target domains serves as a foundation for reasoning and expression.
