THE USAGE OF BIOTECHNOLOGY IN RURAL AREAS

With the increasing global population, demands in terms of food, health care, and sustainable short resource use have increased relentlessly. Biotechnology could be a great asset through which novel means within reach of biotechnology could improve productivity in agriculture, enhance health service delivery, and also lead to environmental stewardship. This article examines the multiple uses of biotechnology and their relevance in a rural context.Abstract
Increasingly, biotech is being viewed as a panacea to most of the challenges facing rural areas in terms of agriculture, health, and sustainability. This paper examines how biotechnology can induce innovations that create conditions for enhanced food security and health outcomes, as well as environmental sustainability in rural communities.
