Abstract

Today, based on the potentiality and power of most advanced mobile applications and digital technologies has made a good turn in condition of self-directed learning (SDL) at institutions of higher education. This article examines how these technologies are affecting SDL by discussing the opportunities and challenges they have offered and the implications for educational practices. The paper does that by examining recent research and applications of mobile and digital technologies that foster self-directed learning and increase students’ engagement and skills to learn for life.
