This study examines the nature, classification, and functions of periphrases in language, focusing on their structural and semantic properties. Unlike standard compound words, periphrases are distinguished by their logical associations between objects, phenomena, and concepts. The research highlights how periphrases emerge through semantic shifts, word formation, and borrowing from other languages. It further classifies periphrases into different types, including lexical, syntactic, phraseological, and logical periphrases, emphasizing their unique roles in communication. Additionally, the study explores the emotional, expressive, and logical dimensions of periphrases, demonstrating their significance in literature, rhetoric, and intellectual discourse. By analyzing various examples, this research underscores the dynamic interplay between conceptual reasoning and linguistic expression, illustrating how periphrases enrich language and enhance stylistic depth.
