Harbiy xizmatning o‘ziga xos xususiyati uning doimiy harakatchanlik, rotatsiya, xavf va uzoq muddatli safar sharoitida kechishidir. Shu bois, harbiy xizmatchilar oilalarining muayyan qismi “distant oilalar”, ya’ni uzoq masofada yashovchi oilalar toifasiga kiradi. Bunday oilalarda bir yoki bir necha oila a’zolarining uzoq muddatli ajralib yashashi, birgalikdagi ijtimoiy rollarning vaqtincha buzilishi va hissiy aloqalarning susayishi natijasida psixologik va sotsial reintegratsiya jarayoni muhim ahamiyat kasb etadi.
