Ushbu maqolada qadimiy ekinlardan biri bo‘lgan qo‘noq (Setaria italica (L.) P.Beauv. ning kelib chiqishi, tarixi, madaniylashtirilish jarayoni, genetik tadqiqotlar asosida aniqlangan markazi, arxeobotanik dalillar asosida yoritilgan. Tadqiqotlar ko‘rsatadiki, ushbu o‘simlik Osiyo mintaqasida, ayniqsa Xitoy hududida madaniylashtirilgan. Bu ekin boshqa qit’alarga qanday tarqalganligi, undan avvalgi yovvoyi turi va hozirgi ahamiyati haqida ham so‘z yuritiladi. Shuningdek, qurg‘oqchilik sharoitida yetishtirishning ilmiy asoslari ham ko‘rib chiqilgan.
