INFLUENCE OF THE LITERATURE TO ESL STUDENTS: DO THEY NEED READING HABIT WHILE ACQUIRING FL?

Abstract

As we know since the beginning of the life in the earth human always tried to learn something new which become the reason of millions of opening new doors to untouched knowledge. And Areen Ahmad (2017) considers that Language as a phenomenon is the basic means of communication. Well, we should take under consideration that reading ability is the feature that human and world of another creature are differently considered. At the beginning, adding literature to ESL/FL was under debate which at the end there were formed a group of teachers who take step out of comfort zone and considered using literature is the easy way to acquire FL as books are rich in materials that help learning another foreign language.

     With another words, this article is going to explain that a) how the literature of other language plays crucial role while stepping into acquiring FL and also it will answer to the question which most students try to ignore as it is a bit requires time patience and knowledge. And the question is b) if ESL students need to read to improve their L2 or FL and do they really need to built reading habit?

      And in the following of pages, as an ESL teacher, I will explain why students need reading habit and how they could earn it. Also, in order to encourage young learners, there are going to be given example which resembles to the situations that our students are facing with as an additional tare going to be mentioned the situations from personal experiences as an encouragement and to remind learners that acquiring reading habit is not as impossible as flying like bird.

      Once it was managed by human then others surely can do it and Areen Ahmad (2017) believes that it has a vital role in acquainting the learners with the ways by which the target language can be expressed. So, as a support to the mentioned ideas in the article there will be given citations from the works of scientists all over the world who has been working in this field.
