LINGUO-CULTURAL DIFFERENCES OF THE CONCEPT "TIME" IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES

This article explores the linguo-cultural differences in the concept of "time" between the English and Uzbek languages. Through a comparative analysis, the study examines how time is expressed metaphorically, temporally, and pragmatically in both cultures. Using a corpus-based approach, the study identifies key time-related expressions in each language and highlights how these expressions reflect broader cultural values, such as the linear, future-oriented nature of time in English and the cyclical, relational perspective of time in Uzbek. The research contributes to understanding how time, as a cultural construct, shapes communication practices and provides insights for more effective intercultural communication. The findings suggest that awareness of these differences can help avoid misunderstandings in interactions between speakers of the two languages.
