Abstract

This paper explores English compounds that incorporate the semantic component “eye,” analyzing their morphological structure, semantic shifts, idiomatic usage, and cultural connotations. Through linguistic analysis, the study illustrates how the word “eye” transcends its literal meaning to form complex expressions, conveying visual perception, cognition, intuition, and surveillance.
