Abstract

The article "Linguistic and Cultural Characteristics of Imitation Words in English and Uzbek" explores the phenomenon of imitation words, or onomatopoeia, as a unique linguistic feature that reflects the interplay between sound, language, and culture. It highlights the structural, cultural, and phonological characteristics of onomatopoeic words in both languages. The article emphasizes the cultural differences in how sounds are perceived and represented in each language, shaped by environmental factors, societal norms, and traditions. Furthermore, it explores how these words evolve with modern influences like globalization and technology. English has incorporated terms like "click" and "swipe," reflecting digital advancements, while Uzbek adapts traditional forms to accommodate new cultural elements. The study underscores the importance of imitation words as linguistic tools that not only imitate sounds but also carry cultural narratives, offering profound insights into human communication, perception, and identity.
