ENTROPY OF CARBONYL SULFIDE ADSORPTION ON KA (MSS-558) ZEOLITE

Abstract

A stepwise character of the adsorption entropy of carbonyl sulfide was identified. The extended area of low entropy correlates with the number of potassium cations in the zeolite structure. The average value of the molar integral entropy of carbonyl sulfide adsorption on KA (MSS-558) zeolite was -13 J/mol·K, which indicates that the mobility of carbonyl sulfide molecules in the zeolite is lower than in the liquid phase and is close to that in the solid phase, leading to a strong inhibition of adsorption mobility on the carbonyl sulfide cations.
