Abstract

The article explores the concept of associative units within language and their relationship to the broader theoretical framework of semantic fields. It examines how words and expressions are interconnected through mental associations, forming clusters or “fields” that influence meaning and language processing. The study highlights the importance of associative links in understanding lexical semantics and the organization of vocabulary in the mental lexicon. Drawing on contemporary linguistic theories, the article analyzes how associative units contribute to language comprehension, usage, and semantic development. It also discusses the implications of the field theory for lexical studies and cognitive linguistics, emphasizing the dynamic and interconnected nature of linguistic units. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of how language functions as a system of related elements and provides insights into the cognitive mechanisms underlying semantic relations.
