Abstract

Polysemy, the phenomenon where a single word or term possesses multiple meanings, poses significant challenges in both linguistic analysis and lexicographic representation. This paper examines the lexicographic approaches employed in corpus studies to effectively analyze and represent polysemantic terms. By utilizing a range of corpora, including general and specialized texts, we investigate how polysemy influences the interpretation of terms in various contexts. The paper highlights methodologies for identifying polysemantic terms within corpora, discusses the importance of context in determining meaning, and explores how lexicographic resources can be enhanced to better reflect polysemy.
