This study explores the differences between formal and informal speech in English and Uzbek, focusing on their linguistic structures, cultural influences, and usage in different social contexts. While English distinguishes formality through sentence structure, vocabulary, and politeness strategies, Uzbek primarily relies on pronouns, verb endings, and honorifics to indicate respect and hierarchy. Uzbek culture places a strong emphasis on social status and age, making formal speech more prevalent in daily interactions. This comparative analysis highlights how language reflects cultural norms and expectations, offering insights for learners and linguists interested in cross-cultural communication.
