Abstract

This study explores the phonetic, phonological, and morphological challenges faced by elementary-level English language learners aged 11–12. It examines the specific difficulties students encounter in spelling, pronunciation, and word formation, with a focus on grapheme-sound mismatches, homophones, irregular pluralization, and verb inflection patterns. The study also investigates how these linguistic obstacles affect reading comprehension, writing accuracy, and overall language acquisition. By analyzing learner errors and their underlying causes, the study provides pedagogical recommendations for improving instruction in phonetics, phonology, and morphology. The findings contribute to the broader discussion on effective language teaching strategies for young learners.
