FILM DISCOURSE AS A PART OF THE LINGUISTIC SYSTEM

This article explores film discourse as an integral component of the broader linguistic system, arguing against its traditional segregation as a separate semiotic entity. It investigates the intricate interplay between verbal and non-verbal elements in film, examining how they contribute to the construction of meaning and narrative progression. The study analyzes the unique linguistic properties of film, including visual grammar, montage, sound design, and the interaction of dialogue with visual cues. By drawing on relevant linguistic theories, such as pragmatics, discourse analysis, and semiotics, this paper demonstrates how film discourse utilizes established linguistic principles to communicate complex ideas and emotions, effectively functioning as a distinct yet interconnected form of language. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of the linguistic nature of film and highlights the significance of integrating film analysis into broader linguistic studies.
