Abstract

The paper explores the evolution of international child protection laws, highlighting the global commitment to ensuring family-based care for children deprived of parental support. It traces the historical development of key legal instruments such as the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children. It emphasizes the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and well-being, advocating for family-based care while acknowledging the challenges that remain in meeting these goals. The author concludes by underscoring the need for international cooperation and enhanced resources to fill existing gaps in child protection systems and ensure that all children grow up in stable, nurturing environments.
