Abstract

The 4th century AH / 10th century CE marked significant socio-political changes that deeply impacted the development and flourishing of Islamic civilization. Analyzing the scholarly and intellectual environment of this era and its influence on scholars’ work leads to important theoretical conclusions. This article explores the social, political, and scientific circumstances under the Abbasid Caliphate in the 10th–11th centuries, providing insights into the state’s ethnic makeup, interethnic relations, lifestyles, cultural life, the attention paid to science, and the establishment of knowledge centers.
