Abstract

Borrowed words, or loanwords, are a natural part of language evolution. As languages interact and cultures blend, vocabulary is constantly shared, adapted, and reused. For foreign language learners, recognizing and using borrowed words can offer a shortcut to understanding and communicating. This article explores the role of borrowing in language learning, emphasizing how familiarity with international words can make vocabulary acquisition easier, boost learners’ confidence, and foster cross-linguistic awareness. Through practical examples and pedagogical insights, the article highlights how borrowing can be used as a bridge to language proficiency.
