Abstract

This article examines the architectural mastery and cultural significance of mosques constructed in Samarkand during the reign of Amir Timur (Tamerlane) at the turn of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Through an analysis of design features, material usage, and symbolic meanings, the study highlights how these architectural projects served not only as religious sites but also as instruments of political authority and cultural expression. The fusion of Persian, Central Asian, and Islamic styles in monumental structures such as the Bibi-Khanym Mosque exemplifies the innovative spirit of Timurid architecture. Emphasizing Timur's strategic use of architecture to legitimize power and promote Islamic scholarship, this study situates Samarkand as a vital center of Islamic civilization. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the Timurid architectural legacy and its enduring influence in both regional and transregional contexts.
