The causative agent of tuberculosis and its properties. The causative agent of
tuberculosis, discovered in 1882 by the German scientist Robert Koch, is usually called in
his honor Koch's bacterium (KB) or mycobacterium tuberculosis (MBT) (mykes - fungus).
