Abstract

Since ancient times, fairy tales have played an essential role in human culture, enthralling readers with their intriguing stories and fantastical worlds. However, underneath their enchanting surface, fairy tales frequently reflect and uphold societal norms and values. This article analyzes the portrayal of mother figures in fairy tales. Given Western patriarchal society's need for good mothers, and the incredibly high standards for mothers to be considered good, there exists a dichotomous representation of mothers in fairy tales.
