Abstract

Stereotypes play a significant role in shaping perceptions and attitudes towards different social groups. This study aims to explore the use of stereotypes in the Uzbek and English languages through a comparative analysis. A corpus-based approach was employed to collect and analyze data from various sources, including literature, media, and everyday conversations. The findings reveal that stereotypes in both languages are often used to categorize and generalize individuals based on their social identities, such as gender, ethnicity, and occupation. However, there are also notable differences in the types of stereotypes present in each language, reflecting unique cultural and historical contexts. This study contributes to our understanding of how stereotypes are constructed and perpetuated in different linguistic and cultural settings.
