COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE AS A GOAL OF THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING

The foundation of foreign language teaching (FLT) is communicative competence, which emphasizes the learner's capacity to use the language correctly and successfully in a variety of settings. This competency includes pragmatic, sociolinguistic, and linguistic abilities that, when combined, allow effective communication in a variety of situational and cultural contexts. FLT moves away from conventional grammar-focused methodologies and toward interactive, learner-centered approaches by prioritizing communicative ability. To do this, this article looks at the theoretical underpinnings of communicative competence, how it is incorporated into FLT approaches, and useful tactics including role-playing, group projects, and realistic simulations.
