BORROWING WORDS IN SPORT
Abstract
Sport in the modern world is a real source multiculturalism, as it unites different people from different countries into a single community. Loanwords are words borrowed by speakers of one language from another language (source language). Sport, being an important part of people’s lives, has a strong influence on the development of language. The article deals with the issues of borrowing vocabulary in the sphere of sport from English into Russian, in particular, the lexicosemantic analysis of the sports terms of English origin is conducted, and the reasons for the appearance of anglicisms in the sports vocabulary are identified. It is noted that loanwords are one of the ways to enrich the vocabulary of the language. The greatest number of anglicisms can be observed in the sports vocabulary. Anglicisms are divided into mastered, semimastered and unmastered.
