Currently, the role of online education in higher education is growing day by day. This thesis analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of online education, its place in the higher education system, the factors influencing it, and the necessary conditions for its effectiveness. The article discusses the advantages of online education from the perspectives of scientific-technological development, the continuity of education, pedagogical methods, and the opportunities available for students. It also addresses the disadvantages of online education, including technical and methodological challenges, the social isolation of students, and others.
