Abstract

Motivation plays a pivotal role in language acquisition, serving as a key determinant of a learner's success in mastering English as a second language (ESL). This article examines the various types of motivation—intrinsic and extrinsic—and their influence on the language learning process. Drawing on contemporary research and case studies, the article highlights strategies for fostering sustained motivation in learners and discusses how teachers can leverage motivation to enhance student outcomes in diverse classroom settings.
