THE ARAL SEA IS ONE OF THE MAJOR PROBLEMS IN CENTRAL ASIA

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the desiccation of the Aral Sea in Central Asia, its causes and consequences, and to advocate for solutions based on these factors. The Aral Sea has significantly declined due to the mismanagement and illegal use of the waters from the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers, which feed into it. Recent climate changes have exacerbated this issue, leading to increased evaporation and rising temperatures, further contributing to the Aral Sea's shrinkage. This decline has resulted in the release of salt and dust particles from the seabed, which pollute the air and pose health risks to the local population. The article discusses the impact of these environmental changes on the health of the populace and their broader implications for the Central Asian countries and the ecosystem.
