THE ROLE OF DATA STRUCTURES AND ALGORITHMS IN MODERN COMPUTING

This article analyzes the role of data structures and algorithms in modern computer science and programming. Efficient software development heavily depends on the appropriate selection of data structures and algorithmic techniques. The study examines fundamental structures such as arrays, linked lists, stacks, queues, trees, and graphs, as well as key algorithms including searching, sorting, graph traversal, and recursion. The performance of these algorithms is evaluated using Big O notation, focusing on time and space complexity. The article emphasizes the importance of integrating theoretical concepts with practical exercises in education to enhance students’ algorithmic thinking. Ultimately, the study demonstrates how the effective use of data structures and algorithms contributes to resource efficiency and the quality of computational solutions.
