OCCLUSIVE DRESSING APPLICATION IN OPEN PNEUMOTHORAX: CLINICAL RELEVANCE, TECHNIQUES, AND ADVANCEMENTS”
Abstract
Open pneumothorax, a critical condition often resulting from penetrating chest trauma, poses an immediate threat to life due to its interference with normal respiratory mechanics. Rapid and effective management, including the application of an occlusive dressing, is a cornerstone of emergency care. This article provides an extensive review of the clinical and pathophysiological implications of open pneumothorax, evidence-based practices for occlusive dressing application, and emerging innovations in trauma care. By addressing prehospital management, emergency interventions, and ongoing advancements, the article underscores the importance of this technique in reducing morbidity and mortality worldwide.
