The articulatory features of English consonants, focusing on how these sounds are produced within the vocal tract. It examines key parameters such as place of articulation, manner of articulation, and voicing, offering a detailed classification of the consonant inventory in English. The study analyzes the role of articulators—including the tongue, lips, teeth, alveolar ridge, and glottis—in shaping the sounds of English consonants. Additionally, it highlights how these articulatory features contribute to phonological contrasts, intelligibility, and patterns of speech in various dialects. Through a comprehensive review of phonetic theory and practical analysis, this thesis provides insights into the physical mechanisms of speech production, supporting both linguistic understanding and applications in language teaching, speech therapy, and phonetic transcription.
