Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of cultural stereotypes as reflections of national characteristics. Stereotypes, though often generalized and simplified, contain elements that may originate from real social and cultural behaviors. The research focuses on the relationship between national identity and stereotypical perceptions by analyzing the origins, functions, and consequences of cultural stereotypes. It explores how these generalized beliefs can both shape and distort our understanding of other cultures. The article also highlights the significance of interpreting stereotypes in a critical and culturally sensitive manner. Through comparative examples, the paper examines stereotypes in various nations and how they relate to underlying traditions, values, and customs. This work contributes to the broader field of intercultural communication and cultural studies.
