Folk legends are a vital part of cultural heritage, encapsulating the values, beliefs and history of a people. This article examines the classification and genre features of Uzbek and English folk legends. Folk legends represent a genre that enables the conveyance of ancient historical and mythological events in a persuasive and imaginative form. The analysis reveals that Uzbek and English legends exhibit shared characteristics, including orality, anonymity and traditionality, which contribute to the formation of cultural identity.
