The article examines the features of expressing modality in Korean and Russian from the perspective of translation. The main difficulties arising in the transmission of epistemic and deontic modality are analyzed, as well as cases of mismatch of modal meanings in the interlingual aspect. Examples from original texts and their translations are given, translation strategies aimed at preserving the pragmatic and stylistic functions of modality are discussed.
