- Abstract
-
This article explores the classification, functions, and pedagogical value of different types of dictionaries in language learning. Dictionaries—whether monolingual, bilingual, or specialized—serve as essential tools for vocabulary development, pronunciation support, and comprehension enhancement. With the evolution of digital lexicography, learners and educators now have access to a wide variety of dictionaries tailored to specific needs and contexts. The study examines how general-purpose, learner’s, thematic, and corpus-based dictionaries support vocabulary acquisition and self-directed learning, particularly for B1-level learners. It also discusses the advantages and limitations of digital versus print formats and offers recommendations for effective dictionary use in classroom practice.
